THE 1ST UGANDA-CZECH BUSINESS FORUM OPENED FROM 3RD TO 4TH OCTOBER 2024 IN PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC
The 1st Uganda Czech Business Forum was organized by the Uganda Embassy in Berlin and the Czech Chamber of Commerce in Prague under the theme “Strengthening Bilateral Trade and Investment: Harnessing Opportunities for Sustainable Economic Growth". The two day’s Business Forum was opened by Mrs. Jana Havrdova, the Vice President of the Czech Chamber of Commerce and Ambassador. Danny Mayanja Ssozi, the Deputy Head of Mission, Uganda Embassy Berlin. The first day was a plenary including coffee cupping and the second day will include farm and company visits.
Ambassador. Ssozi in his opening remarks thanked the Czech Chamber of Commerce for agreeing to organize this Business Forum. He welcomed the delegates to this event and informed that Uganda has exciting investment opportunities which the Czech Republic investors can tap into. He noted that Uganda offers a fertile ground for investment across the various sectors that include Agriculture, renewable energy, infrastructure development, ICT, tourism among others.
In Her remarks Mrs. Jana said “We are really happy to support this sub-branch meeting. Uganda is quite a new territory for us and I thank the Ugandan Embassy in Berlin and the Ambassador for the cooperation and the opportunity to introduce Uganda to Czech Businessmen. Your delegation is the first major representation of this country. We are aware that Uganda has a population of almost 50 million and the capital city has a population of about 8 million and we look forward to tapping into such a big economy”

With its unparalleled natural beauty and strategic location, our country presents a golden opportunity for European investors to explore new frontiers in tourism development. By investing in Uganda, you not only gain access to a lucrative market but also contribute to the sustainable development of one of Africa’s most promising tourism sectors” said Mrs. Susan Muhwezi.
Uganda and the Czech Republic enjoy cordial relationships with mutual trade between the two countries being developed gradually. The Forum underscored the need to escalate this trade and investment engagement to greater heights including formulating and signing of MoUs and organizing trade and investment missions in both countries.
The Forum attracted delegates from the Government of Uganda including Mrs. Susan Muhwezi, (Senior Presidential Advisor and Chairlady - Uganda Hotel Owners Association), Mr. Bagonza Mohammed (Senior Presidential Advisor on on Diaspora Matters at State House), Mr. Kakuru Phillip Kwijuka (Senior Presidential Advisor on Trade based in South Africa), Mr. Agama Woling Anthony (Minister Counselor), and Ms. Jessica Namuddu (Second Secretary and Coordinator of the Business Forum), members of the Czech Chamber of Commerce, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Czech Republic as well as Ugandans in the Diaspora based in Czech Republic led by Mr. Steven Musana.
