Passport Applications

PASSPORT APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Every Ugandan has the right to a passport or other travel documents.

Uganda travel documents may only be held by citizens of Uganda. They are processed and issued only by Government of Uganda through the Directorate of Immigration Control (DCIC) and at three Ugandan Missions abroad: Washington DC (United States of America), London (United Kingdom) and Pretoria (Republic of South Africa).

Applications for Uganda Passports received by the Uganda Embassy in Berlin are processed at the Uganda High Commission in London, UK and will normally take about 60 days.

A.) PASSPORT RENEWAL

1. Fully completed Form A and B. Incomplete forms may cause delay to the passport renewal process. (Applicant may omit Local council endorsements)
2. Three (3) identical passport size photographs.  Must be coloured and show all facial features and both ears. The photographs must have a clean white background. Applicants are advised NOT to take their photos in a photo booth.
3. The old passport to be renewed/replaced (you will get this back with your new passport.)
4. If you are changing your profession as stated in your current passport, you must provide a letter from your employer confirming your job title. If this is not provided, your profession will remain as in your current passport.
5. Fee of Euro 90.00 to be paid directly to the Embassy Account and a slip sent to this Embassy:

Note that application fees are non-refundable even when your application has been denied, or for any other reason.
6. If you would like the Embassy to send back your new passport by post, applicants must include a fee of Euro 20.00 in cash for postage.
7. Copies of German documents relating to your stay in Germany.

B.) ISSUANCE OF A NEW PASSPORT

1. Fully completed Form A and B. Incomplete forms may cause delay to the passport renewal process. (Applicant may omit Local council endorsements)
2. Three (3) identical passport size photographs.  Must be coloured and show all facial features and both ears. The photographs must have a clean white background. Applicants are advised NOT to take their photos in a photo booth.
3. Photocopy of Birth Certificate stating names of parents. (First time applicants only)
4. Photocopy of Passport for either parent named on the original birth certificate. (First time applicants only)
5. Formal written request for changes to be made.
6. Marriage certificate (For change of surname following marriage)
7. Changes of names as a result of circumstances will have to be gazetted. The Deed Poll should be published in The Uganda Gazette. Original copies of the Deed Poll and The Uganda Gazette containing the change of name must be submitted to the Mission and will be retained for the record.
8. Copies of German documents relating to your stay in Germany.
9. Fee of Euro 90.00 to be paid directly to the Embassy Account (See Section A above) and a slip sent to this Embassy.
10. If you would like the Embassy to send back your new passport by post, applicants must include a fee of Euro 20.00 in cash for postage.

C.) LOST PASSPORT

1. Fully completed Form A and B. Incomplete forms may cause delay to the passport renewal process. (Applicant may omit Local council endorsements)
2. Three (3) identical passport size photographs.  Must be coloured and show all facial features and both ears. The photographs must have a clean white background. Applicants are advised NOT to take their photos in a photo booth.
3. Photocopies of the lost passportís data and file pages.
4. Fully filled lost passport questionnaire
5. Copy of birth certificate
6. Police Report if available. The Police report must be translated into English language
7. Sworn Affidavit/Statutory Declaration (in English language) pertaining to citizenship and the fact surrounding loss of the passport.
8. Fine of Euro 80.00 for the lost passport.
9. Fee of Euro 180.00 for the new passport. Both the fine and the fees should be paid directly to the Embassy Account (See Section A above) and a slip sent to this Embassy.
10. If you would like the Embassy to send back your new passport by post, applicants must include a fee of Euro 20.00 in cash for postage.

D.) EMERGENCY TRAVEL DOCUMENT

1. Fully completed Form A and B. Incomplete forms may cause delay to the passport renewal process. (Applicant may omit Local council endorsements)
2. Two (2) identical passport size photographs.  Must be coloured and show all facial features and both ears. The photographs must have a clean white background. Applicants are advised NOT to take their photos in a photo booth.
3. Formal written request for an Emergency Travel Document including one contact in Uganda.
Letter from the German immigration authorities clearing you to leave the country voluntarily.
4. Fee of Euro 30.00 to be paid directly to the Embassy Account (See Section A above) and a slip sent to this Embassy.

Note:

i) An Emergency Travel Document is a one-way travel document to Uganda and it can only be issued after exhaustive inquiries have been made. Passports reported lost will be declared null and void.

ii) Application for an Emergency Travel Document for Minors (under 16) must be accompanied by:#

(a) Written consent from parents;
(b) Passport of the parents;
(c) Original Birth Certificate;
(d) One passport photograph of both parents.

iii) An Emergency Travel Document is valid for seven (7) days from date of issue.

Don't book travel until you have a valid passport - doing so is at your own risk.

NB: If you withdraw your application for whatever reason, the fee is not refundable.
