Uganda will host Africa's first Conservation and Tourism Investment Forum on 6th October 2017 during which President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will launch a new framework for investing in Uganda's Protected Area network so that it is sufficiently well-resourced and well-managed to conserve the nation's precious wildlife heritage whilst generating value for the people of Uganda on a sustainable basis. The Forum aims at securing the investment needed to effectively protect Uganda's wildlife and landscapes long term.

While addressing the media on 18th July 2017 about the forthcoming Forum, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni said, "Uganda is the only country in Africa where the number of elephants is growing. Poaching is failure by the state and we cannot allow that.

"The aim of the Forum is to spur long-term investment, creating an enabling environment in order to rehabilitate Uganda's protected areas."
